STRENGTH - The power to resist force
Curated by Aunty Elly Chatfield
13 February - 8 March, 2026
This Aboriginal led project, proudly supported by Blue Mountains Aboriginal Advisory Council, will showcase 2D and 3D works from members of the local First Nations community, curated by Aunty Elly Chatfield. Themes of the exhibition cover how strength has played a part in the ways in which these artists navigate the world.
The Stolen Generations’ was a government policy under the Aborigine Protection Amending Act No. 2 of 1915 that allowed children to be forcibly taken from their families, and have full control of that child until they were 18 years old, upon which the government released them from the state’s ‘care’.
Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd offered a formal apology in 2008, on behalf of the nation, at The Australian Parliament House, acknowledging successive laws and policies that “inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these, our fellow Australians”.
