Blue Mountains Theatre invites you to get together with friends and loved ones to share the thrill of live entertainment, laugh out loud, and make memories in 2022.
With a year full of uplifting experiences in store, there’s something for everyone to enjoy: from heart-warming musical theatre to cabaret; children’s theatre; comedy; contemporary, jazz and world music and more.
A must-see for theatre and literature lovers is the stage adaptation of Joan Didion’s bestselling memoir The Year of Magical Thinking, performed by one of Australia’s finest actors, Jillian Murray. This powerful, moving and ultimately joyful play is one woman’s story of the journey to find acceptance, and the lessons learnt in letting go.
Children and their families are in for a very special treat with The Listies’ ROFL (Rolling On the Floor Laughing). Hilarious, joyous and completely ridiculous, this is madcap fun for the whole family.
Fans of feel-good musical theatre can look forward to two heart-warming productions making their long-awaited arrival in the mountains following covid-enforced postponements: The Sapphires and Margaret Fulton The Musical. Both are based on inspiring true Australian stories.
Blue Mountains Theatre’s incredible acoustics will be in the spotlight once again with a diverse range of music and dance events on offer. Among the many highlights is the premiere performance of Come Together, an exciting new collaboration from world-renowned taiko percussion ensemble Taikoz, Ensemble Offspring, and former Bangarra dancer Waangenga Blanco.
Dynamic Cuban jazz ensemble Caribé will return with a stunning new show Una nueva vida (A new life), a spectacular collision of music, memories and dance inspired by the stories and experiences of the band members and their families.
The Blue Mountains’ own Lozz Benson (The Voice, John Butler Trio) will lead her mighty band through the iconic songs and stories of the trailblazing women of the country music scene, in Women of Country.
Accompanied by flamenco dancer Deya Miranda Giner, acclaimed flamenco guitarist Paco Lara will transport the audience to southern Spain, interpreting themes from his latest album The Andalusian Guitar and guitar classics from composers Paco de Lucia, John Williams and Joaquin Rodrigo.
Charismatic songstresses Baby et Lulu (Abby Dobson and Lara Goodridge) will showcase their latest album with their seductive femme fatale glamour, très witty banter and exquisitely sung romantic chansons.
