Blue Mountains Theatre + Community Hub is celebrating 10 years!

HUBBUB will see Springwood Library, Braemar House and Blue Mountains Theatre + Community Hub joining together for a great day filled with free activities, workshops, exhibitions, artisan markets and a Book Week parade in celebration of 10 years of community and creativity at The Hub. With something for everyone, this is an event not to be missed!

Program of events

LOVE LOCAL MAKERS MARKETS

From 9am - Visitors can browse a variety of unique locally made wares at the Love Local Makers Markets whilst enjoying free entertainment from Blue Mountains Musical Society, Dtiatti Dhangurra from Springwood High School, Zany Yare Youth Circus, and Hands, Heart and Feet.


HUB UPSTAIRS GALLERY

From 9am - Located on level 1, the The Hub Upstairs Gallery will feature a retrospective of images of live performances, concerts and other entertaining events that have taken place under its roof in the last 10 years.

 

BRAEMAR HOUSE

Synthesizer Petting Zoo
Come cuddle, pet, and play with a menagerie of electronic critters at the Synthesizer Petting Zoo! Farmer Mx Robert Frost brings a flock of bleeping, blooping, squawking little baby synthesizers for a light-hearted, hands-on experience of furry, silly, joyful noise-making. All ages and all noises welcome!

9:30am to 11:30am - Meet the Woolly Wildlife Warriors

All over Australia, makers create wildlife-care items based on patterns that are shared online at sites like the Animal Rescue Cooperative. In the Blue Mountains makers connect via Fb group 'Woolly Wildlife Warriors'. Items made are distributed via drop-offs at local libraries (including the Springwood library). Meet makers and find the patterns.

9:30 to 11:30am - Fox & Johnson 
Joel Fox is a Blue Mountains based multi-instrumentalist, a career performer since early teens and now one of the most active musicians in the region, their music is steeped in a deep connection to folk, Americana and jazz. Paired with Bruce Johnson, an Australian master of brass, who has played support for visitors ranging from Kenny Ball to Stan Getz, with collaborations throughout the UK, Scandinavia and Russia.

9:30am to 12:30pm - Zany Yare roving performers
Look up for Zany Yare Youth Circus stilt walkers and roving performers!

12:30 to 2:30pm - Zany Yare drop-in workshop  
Drop into the Zany Yare free circus skills workshop to learn juggling and other tricks.  

 

SPRINGWOOD LIBRARY

11am – BOOK WEEK PARADE!
Come dressed as your favourite character and march across the Hub in the Book Week Parade!
Prizes will be awarded for the most creative costumes.

11am to 1:30pm - Free arts and crafts activities with library bag decorating, badge making and a treasure hunt!

All ages welcome.

 

FOOD 

In addition to the food trucks at the Love Local Makers Markets, Springwood Neighbourhood Centre will be fundraising for the Blue Fringe Art and Literature Festival with a bake sale.

The event is proudly supported by Springwood Neighbourhood Centre and Belong Blue Mountains and will celebrate the creativity of people with a lived experience of mental health. For further information go to www.bluefringe.org.au.
