Blue Mountains Concert Society presents Andrea Lam, Pianist
Classical expert in ABC TV’s hit series The Piano, and ARIA award-winning pianist, Andrea Lam brings the piano and a handful of the most beautiful works written for it, to Springwood. Long cherished by Andrea, Schubert’s breathtaking Sonata in A major, D. 959 is one of the great piano masterworks, that reveals and revels in all of life - encapsulating beauty and warmth, grandeur, melancholy, drama, nostalgia and joy, music that speaks directly to the heart. With songs, dances and delights from Bach and Schumann to Granados and Eotvos, Andrea shares more of the music that has travelled with her as her Piano Diary, through life’s significant, solitary or unexpected moments.
Described by The Wall Street Journal as a ‘real talent’, Australian pianist Andrea Lam is known for virtuosity and an engaging stage presence. In 2025 she won the ARIA Award for Best Classical Album and was again a Limelight Artist of the Year finalist. She also became a familiar face as the classical expert on ABC’s hit series The Piano, watched by over a million viewers each week.
After two decades based in New York, Andrea has returned to Australia and performs across Asia, Australasia and the United States with major orchestras and conductors. Her repertoire ranges from Bach and Mozart to recent works by Aaron Jay Kernis, Liliya Ugay and Nigel Westlake. Andrea’s 2025 solo album Piano Diary (ABC Classics) topped the ARIA Classical and Classical/Crossover charts and was featured on ABC Classic and Fine Music FM. Recent projects include the Classic100 Piano with the Melbourne Symphony, Strauss’ Burleske with the Sydney Symphony, and curating and performing for the Four Winds Easter Concerts. In 2026 she appears with the Melbourne, Adelaide and West Australian Symphony Orchestras, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Australian String Quartet, and in recital with Sir Bryn Terfel.
Andrea is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Yale University and is Lecturer in Piano at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium.
This event includes a Champagne Supper to celebrate the Blue Mountains Concert Society's 60th Anniversary.

"[Andrea’s] delicate keyboard approach not only anchored the score but also allowed it to spiral into the heavens."
"melting lyricism, filigree touch and spirited eloquence... She played with a firm purpose, attention to nuance and produced a spectrum of ravishing colour"
